About the competition

Purpose

In the age of “coexist with the coronavirus,” it has become difficult to hold international music competitions and educational workshops, and there has been less opportunities for young musicians from around the world to perform. To address this situation, "International Music Competition" will be held in Minato City, Tokyo, with one section each year for violin, cello, and piano, and at the same time, there will be "Educational Workshop" for junior high and high school students who aspire to pursue a career in music.

The most distinctive feature of the competition is that it is a "remote and real" event befitting the 5G era. While the preselections will be held remotely, we aim for fair and transparent judging where contestants can listen to each other's performances. For the public rounds, contestants will gather in Tokyo for real performances. Workshops, in both remote and real aspects, will also enhance the educational opportunities and content. This Competition is also looking for a wide range of volunteers to help with management and communications.

By discovering and fostering young performers who will go on to the world stage, and creating opportunities for people to experience the musical abundance, this competition and workshop hopes to promote mutual understanding among participants and local residents, thereby contributing to the realization of world peace.
